Modest Expectations.

A life lived well is a life less ordinary, so said some supercilious person. Well my life to that point was ordinarily dull, a sort of treading water type of life. Always a dull moment usually a dull day. The fault was mine as any adventurous spirit that I may have once possessed had been washed out of me by years of matrimonial commitment, raising offspring, feeding, clothing and raising the afore mentioned.
I had become accustomed to my fate, had excepted mediocrity as a forgone conclusion. In short I deserved to be where I was.
Hope had long since been smothered by an idle acceptance, at once too tedious to relate, and simultaneously not worth commenting upon.
