As with many folk on here, I'm happy to ask for help with questions, as I note that Angie55 has on occasions for other quiz queries. Is the objection because cash prizes are involved, I wonder? Ian W (The Challenge) did recognise, though, "it is not strictly against the rules, which state that you may use ‘any means’ to obtain an answer". A bit of a conundrum, methinks?
I think people get a bit cheesed off when the quizsetters wishes are ignored (ambiguous or not).
also, if you ask your friends or look up things on the net / in books, the answers stay in a small circle.
Ask on the Answerbank and any answers given can be seen by everyone (probably causing further anger to the setter)

Good point raised by QuizmasterG, especially about quiz setter's wishes. However, when I set quizzes for a range of audiences I'm not that fussed about how questions are answered, short of bribery or corruption! Knowledge is not a private matter and it never should be. For Ian W and The Challenge, he also notes that policing how folk find answers is virtually impossible. I'm always intrigued by how students at King William School in Isle of Man find the answers to the fiendish Christmas Quiz set (seen in The Guardian). Remains a conundrum and maybe always will. Good discussion!
