I met her once when she was in a play at Birmingham Rep. A friend was part of the production team. Afterwards we went to a restaurant. June was full of stories of her life as an actress. A friendly, entertaining lady who enjoyed life.
I've been searching for ages to find an interview June did with Paul O' Grady, where she mentioned that she was "discovered by Alec Guinness", but it doesn't seem to be available, unfortunately.
This interview is with Piers Morgan, who I cannot stand, but it's far more 'in-depth' and interesting. All her children look like her - the resemblance in 2 of her daughters is incredible!
I was only thinking of her the other day, as she was born in the same year as my Dad, 1927, so it's been quite a shock.
I would've loved to post June's Tibetan Yoga sequence on the show, "100 Years Younger", but there are only stills from the programme with one of those irritating computer-type voice-overs.
It was hilarious and the other competitors were boring in comparison.
I think she will be missed hugely by anyone who knew her.
A massive personality with vitality and more dignity than you'd have credited her with, looking at some of the films she's been in!
Fly free June - the world is a much smaller place without you...
