The end game is the most (or should I say only) satisfying part of the whole puzzle. Thank God it's done. Thanks to Prof M and NAC for assistance on what has been the most horrendous crossword I have ever tackled. I once came 7th (and won a prize [The Foggiest Notion by Marc Breman] in the Worlds hardest crossword also written by Marc Breman (Well, that was easy in comparison). Although I did find that Crossword fair (This one, Not so much) Thanks again all :-)

Klazo, congrats on your past Breman win! And I'm happy that you have completed "High Bar". I'm still struggling. Can you please identify the rows or columns for the following:

'C' 7 letters
'D' 7
'E' 7
'F' 5

Rows 2,5,8 and 11

Columns 4 and 10 (don't forget to include column 6 like I did)

Prof M only gave letter count for the Country as not to give the game away. You need all letters to find Country and Capital.

Then around the perimeter of the crossword, You should pick up 14 (highlighted) letters that need to be anagrammed to give the final solution that needs to be recorded in the 'Solution box' under the Crossword. It's a Capital and Country answer.

Almost out of the woods with this one! Got the countries and capitals and 6d to be highlighted. I'm reviewing now to get the extra words and perimeter letters for the solution. This should be the final search! Thanks!

Matakari - if you're going to bother with all of the extra word pairs it should help to know that they're paired in clue order (1st+2nd extra words, 3rd+4th, 5th+6th etc etc).

Many thanks, ProfessorMaisie, I think I'd just like to have the extra letters to form the solution. It's time to put this one to rest and await the more reasonable Spectator tomorrow!

Hi mate. Don't give up now (this is the easy bit)

If you have highlighted the whole of the rows to row 2, row 5, row 8, row 11 and columns 4, 10 and 6d you will see only 14 letters that have been highlighted in the perimeter (outer ring of the crossword)
Anagram them for the solution. Two words 7,7

Matakari, are the extra words actually needed? From my reading - maybe wrong - you just need to play with the highlighted perimeter letters...
