Why Are Sky Still Referring To The Queen As "The Queen Consort"

All wives of Kings are Queen Consorts. I think there's been mention of dropping the 'consort' bit for Camilla after the coronation.

Yes they are naomi but the word is never used. The late Queen mum was always called the queen when her husband was the king.

The Royal Family website refers to her as, "Her Majesty The Queen Consort" so if anyone is a plonker, it appears it's not Sky.

I think..... it is because the Palace ( protocol Office) said she is

1952 - round two over HRH and the Duke of Windsor, Jowett, then Lord Chancellor, said - "look basically boys and girls, it is in the power of Monarch to say what, when it comes to titles of the Rt Royal Rolicking Rowdies ( family that is)"

which was rather different to Round 1 - Jowett again KC this time 1936, where he said an abdicated King went back to what he was - HRH Prince, so the wife was HRH Duchess
and this rule ( the old one) is what they relied on, to give Lilibet and Archie, Princes titles - grandchilren of the Monarch (CIIIR that is!) were princes a/c Letters Patent 1917

It's difficult for some of us to think of her as Queen as we had Elizabeth 11 as Queen for all our lives.
This article also refers to her as Camilla and yet we never referred to our late Queen as Elizabeth.
The Princess of Wales is still called Kate Middleton in some newspapers.
It will take time before we get used to calling Royalty by their new names.

Palace were worried that if she were Queen Camilla
she would be thought to be Queenie like Queen Elizabeth II, and not queenie like Queen Mary, wife of George V

These noble loyal sentiments moved the then courtiers in 1952 when Queen Mary ( widow of George V ) was OK, but there may be confusion ( no really) between Queen Elizabeth and er Queen Elizabeth
so the widow was given a made-up title - Queen Mother.
This was NOT a nominative apposition - Queen and Mother
but an irregular genitive ( attributive) Queen's Muvva, but not 's.

These heady questions of protocol are not really AB fare are they?

The Royal Family have a history of preventing some of their offspring marrying their choice and then wondering why things go wrong. Princess Margaret, Edward VIII and Charles spring to mind.

There are some awfully sad and sour people on this thread. Holier than thou springs to mind. I personally, wouldn't condemn anyone to a loveless life of misery and I wouldn't condemn them for seeking and finding happiness either.
