I’ve attempted my first Listener crossword, possibly unwisely, and I’m nearly done apart from this clue -
Gelding's odds at the off, about the same (5)

I have ???D? - I’m pretty sure about that D. Thanks.

Thank you!
Hope you know some Listener jargon, Fleshpots... - there's a fairly well known phrase required for the endgame.
Question Author
Not really, but I think I’ve just had an unclued phrase for the unclued phrase haha
(I think you're there, Fleshpots...}
I have no idea what 33d is. Aged siren..

Also have no clue on the endgame. Seems British?
letter count for 33d hankir???
It's the alarming kind of siren you're looking for, hankir - archaic and very much like 'alarm'.
Have you come across this acronym before - PDM?
boobinwales,
Clue is : Aged siren from where Hollywood is odd (5) LA?U?
The answer is an old word for siren. I just figured out the answer. The city of Hollywood+odd.

bobbinwales -
Aged siren from where Hollywood is odd (5)
Sorry (far too slow}.
Thanks ProfessorM.
I think it's the aha moment but not sure what PD stands for.
The last row seems to have The ? moment.

One letter that travel from the first row all the way to the bottom row occurs only in the left side of the grid.
That letter is British currency - and there's an old British expression for when it falls which is (as you say) the 'aha moment', hankir.
Got it. The first word of the first row drops moment.

But not sure about which down answer reltes to the path.
May be 15d.
so the last row could be 3, 1, 4, 6.

I think I’ve got it…
It follows either of two directions on the way down, but we don't have to do anything to identify the particular word.
You've got the rest (but don't be tempted to put 'penny' in the box - there's a bit more to it).
Thanks ProfessorM.
Will think about what word at the bottom tomorrow.
