10 years ago I won an afternoon with a John Lewis personal stylist and what fun we had as she looked trough racks of clothes to find what she thought suited me. One item (a Gerry Weber top) I still wear today .. such a versatile item.

Do you have a favourite item of clothing which you never want to part with?

I bought 2 skirts in Littlewoods (Berketex) in 1997 and I still wear them today and still look amazing. Every time I wear them, someone always comments how lovely they are.

That was a nice experience, Haz. Funny how some people can pick an item of clothing that will suit you but we'd probably never give it a second look! :-))
I have a couple of old trusted tops that I hang on to...

Gerry Weber clothing are timeless classics. I worked across the road from a Weber showroom & loved their sample sales.
Irvin Flying Jacket. Not good in todays temperature.
I have a three quarter length ‘swing’ style (ie. Not fitted) cotton mac/lightweight coat bought in 1998. It’s bright red/orange with full length zip and large buttons.
Washes like a dream and comes up like new every time, and I wear it regularly.

11.19 Sharon ...this top looks as good today as it did then. Quality counts!
A pair of baseball type boots, only better. The uppers were made out of blue denim. They caught my eye in a shop window, while I was waiting for a bus in 1964, they were named "Levi jean boots" can't remember how much they cost, but I wish I could buy another pair.
btw, the bus did come along eventually

I would love to be able to spend an afternoon with a stylist as I'm one of those people who have no idea when it comes to choosing clothes.
Honestly, I can't think of a single thing that I wouldn't want to part with.
As long as it's cheap and it fits me, that's the only agenda I have when it comes to buying clothes.

I'm the opposite Barsel. Good stuff only that will last me for years.
LadyB, I don't know why I have this mindset.
A friend took me shopping once and she encouraged me to buy 2 wool coats, quite pricey they were.
I never wore them, they didn't feel as comfy as my old coats.
Well I hope you sold them on at a good price Barsel.
I gave one to another of my friends, and the other went to a charity shop.
My friend didn't want it as it was bright pink!
Thinking about this, it's quite weird as I've realised I always seem to buy dark clothes.
I need to go and lie down on a couch and have a word with myself.
A dress I bought some years ago, it's cotton, with a sort of 50s shape. In a yellow, green and blue print, it's my feel happy dress, and comes out every summer. One day I will dismantle it and cut a pattern from it and make loads more.

Sounds a great idea, Rowan. I used to work beside a girl who brought some material into work, cut it out during her lunch-break and came in wearing the dress next day.
Old School Tie - useful for opening doors.

P.S. Unfortunately I don't possess one really.
A grey long roll neck jumper, absolutely adore it but it’s now falling to pieces so am trying to knit a replacement
I also have a favourite knit, from a charity shop, a black roll neck sweater dress looks great with my high boots
I am really hard wearing on jumpers Rowan!
Don’t know why doesn’t matter the qualm they all look scruffy in a matter of weeks
Well I was reading the other day about celebrity "revenge" dresses and I came to the realisation that I don't own a revenge dress, then I spotted this and promptly instructed OH to order it for me:

It arrived today :-)

Now I just need an excuse to wear it...
