Haha, you walk up to your plane on the tarmac at Southampton and Hurn.  But they tend to keep you way from anything but the steps, this lady clealry didnt think things through.

I used to walk across the tarmac from my office at Luton Airport to see  my husband who worked from the other side.

Yes, I worked for BA at Hurn, once you are on the airport no one used to bother too much where you went.  Planes were parked all around the hangers.
