Coughing and being sick
7 Answers
Hi, I have been coughing very violently in the morning and then being really sick. I don't feel sick in the stomach but the cough makes me throw up, it only happens in the morning and i only throw up, water or the cup of tea i've just had, after that it's flem like stuff. I always wake up with a blocked nose and I think that makes me heave. Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening? Oh, i smoke (which i'm trying to stop) and I'm a very nervous person and have been sick when I worry or panic about something.
Thanks
Thanks

It sounds just the same as you only he didn't smoke. He was eventually told that it was stress and a nervous disorder. it would just start as a cough then he'd end up being sick too as soon as he stood up out of bed. I'm afraid i can't give any advice of a cure as we are no longer together! But perhaps it was me causing him stress!! Are you worried or stressed about anything in particular??
Thanks for your answers crete and pinkspangle!
Yes, I'm going through a HUGE family trouble at the moment plus work is a nightmare.......! I tend to wake up v early (3-5am) and start fretting about my troubles straight away, then doze for a bit until my alarm goes off. It's then when i start having a HUGE coughing fit and throw up. After it's all over I'm fine (although i cough during the day, it's nothing like how it is in the morning).
Thanks again for your advice
I doubt it was you giving him stress pinkspangle!!! :o)

i often feel sick and almost vomit in the mornings. For me, I think its due to being hungry - empty stomach - and then immediately riding on the stuffy and oxygen deprived Tube. What I've done is drink fruit juice in the morning which helps - not tea or coffee! Nerves will also do it to you. In which case you may want to see your GP about it?
I get this at the end of a cold. I cough and cough, and it's so violent I end up throwing up. It's mainly at night when I'm trying to get to sleep.
I discovered recently that it's not that I need to cough - I need to blow my nose. A good blow, and it stops me coughing. I think it's snot going down my throat that irritates it.
Sorry about the gruesomness!!
