Selling 750 item to ebayer with zero feedback and purchases
5 Answers
Yes the item is worth alot as will postage and the item will finish lunch time-ish tomorrow. I have not sold on ebay before this is my first time but have been a buyer many times before. I did not state on my listing that I would not except zero feedback bidders but now I which I had!!
I will of course plan to receive a personal cheque and wait for it to clear before the item is sent out. I understand that if no one out bids this 'zero feedback bidder' he will be the winning bidder, and if he does not pay I can possibly offer it to others who have bidded or have to re list it which would be annoying because it cost 15 approx to list it.
Can someone tell me of any action I can take, is it risking selling to him, can I stop his bid - reject it???

Your buyer has far more to worry about than you !
No selling record, so there is nothing to say you are trustworthy. Cheque only so very difficult to get problems resolved.
I think you are worrying too soon. Your bidder could be a very experienced eBayer who is bidding on a new identity to stop his family seeing what he is buying.
If you do have a non-paying bidder, you can report him and get the final value fees refunded, and re-list without paying another set of listing fees.
Hope it all goes well!

Further to Birt's warning about accepting cheques for eBay items: it is not unheard of for a cheque to be refused by the issuing bank 6 weeks after it is presented. If this happens, then even though your bank let you draw against it after 4 days or so, they will just deduct the amount from your account, send you a letter to tell you, and there's not a thing you can do about it.
Although a cheque may clear within a few days it may not be "given value" by the issuing bank until weeks later. A way to avoid the risk of this is to ask for a Special Clearance on the cheque. This costs you around 12 and your bank will repeatedly pester the issuing bank by phone until it explicitly confirms or refuses the cheque.
For future reference, an alternative payment option is by BACS transfer; it is totally free, totally secure, takes exactly 3 days and cannot be withdrawn after payment is made.
