I'm due to have an operation in July to repair a tendon sheath in my hand. Although as with any operation there is a small risk of making the problem worse i've been assured that it is quite a minor operation and can be done with just a local anesthetic. It really doesn't bother me watching operations or anything gory but I just feel that it may be different when its happening to me! I'm sure I won't be able to see anything but obviously i'm going to be aware of what is happening. Has anyone had an operation using local anesthetic and if so what was it like?
Hello efc i had carpel-tunnel op on my wrist and it was ok you get about 2 or 3 injections to freeze the area of operation and before you know it all done and dusted i also had a mole removed off my face with a local anestheic and that was ok to i am suer you will do just fine take care love megan
Have had general twice. I think a local would be much better because after a general you are just useless for about 8 hours because you're so groggy and just want to sleep. Well i am anyway.
If you have a local you probably won't see the op as they usually put a curtain shield up for that reason. Generals are so much harder to get over too. Some people can take days to recover from them.
