Cistern water level
3 Answers
For a while we have sometimes had to flush our toilet twice, we put this down to a problem with water pressure and vowed to get it sorted when we have a new bathroom suite fitted. I've opened the cistern today to put a toilet block in and discovered the water level was lower than it should be. The toilet handle seemed quite loose so I tightened it but if anything the water level seems to have dropped a little further when I flushed it. I would appreciate any advice please. Thankyou

Assuming you have the old-style cistern - there is a big plastic ball that determines the level of the water - this can be adjusted so that it can float higher before it stops the flow of water, via a screw adjustment, located where the arm of the ball is attached to the main body.
Sorry for my delay in acknowledging your replies, this the first chance I've had. Thank you both so much for your help, Gizmonster Ill have a go at adjusting the screw, see if i cant fix things before hubby comes home next! wineoh, I have the old style flush but I'm grateful for your advice too for when we fit a new suite, I wouldn't have known otherwise.
