I left my job when I was 56 and rolled over my 401K to a variable annuity
to avoid any penalty. Now I was informed that I could withdraw monies
from this account without penalty since I was 55 in the year I rtired.
Now can I still withdraw from this annuity without penalty or will I be
charged 10% as I am under 59 1/2. Thank you,

What do you mean by 401K- is that the type of pension or is that its value (i.e. 401,000)?
Have you asked you annuity provider, or have you got any paperwork- details should be on there or on their website

you obviously don't understand finances.
Ow, that hurts. I've been working in a bank and giving financial advice for all these years and I thought i knew my stuff.
This is a UK site. I always thought 401K accounts were available in the US not UK- but perhaps I just don't understand finances.
