Thanks, K. I'll let you know how I do.
Can't believe it! I've finished in record time with the help of my brand new Brewer!!
Are you out there Mintyman99?

Well done roslyn.

I hope my rather clumsy hint didn't spoil it for you.

The unclued lights can all be found by Googling but it's so much easier with Brewer.

Regards K
Thanks K for the initial link - no you didn't spoil it for me - my first thoughts were "cricket".
Many thanks for the link.
Hi

I have just started doing this type of crossword after doing Guardian/Times Cryptic- the Brewer you refer to is there a particular edition I should buy.

Thanks

DJA
I bought my Brewer very recently on Amazon - 18th edition - £16.72 (r.r.p. £30 so it was a good deal)
Yes, I've just responded to your other query with the same info. 18th Edition, published in 2009, but the same facts that you need for this crossword, for example, are in the 17th and previous editions.
This reminded me of one of the worst, albeit clean, jokes I've ever heard!
I reckon that Doc has shares in the publishers of Brewers and that, when he is the compiler, Brewers should be offered instead of Chambers.
Here's the link to the pdf..........

Novalis, Chambers publish Brewer :)
Sorry for delay stuck in Monaco because of Icelandic volcano.
I think you have it already.
But how am I going to get home.

Thanks, Mintyman. As you say, most of us have the link (and maybe solution). But that's really bad luck and I hope you can get home soon.

Possibly your answer is 'rears out' (troublé, as Doc would say en français).

As someone with an interest (and some expertise) in meteorology and aviation, I have to say this is an over-reaction on the scale of the bird and swine flu panics, but realistically it's unlikely the flight ban will be lifted quickly. If it is relaxed for a while, it will probably be reimposed as a NW airflow sets in over the weekend.
I don't usually have a problem with Doc's crosswords but I am completely stuck on this. I can't find anything appropriate in Brewer. HOW as a hint hasn't helped me; any more tips, please?
Think of who might use 'How' in some other way than as a mere adverb;-)
Thanks, Ironie. Got it now :-)
Thanks bathtub. Back after hopping on and off trains and using someone else's ticket on eurostar (they were stuck in dubai). hairy moments hoping that passport and ticket wouldn't be checked together.
More importantly finished this puzzle bar 18D which i can't see but bound to be easy. I have -A-SE-. any clues?
Hi Mintyman

Think of an English word that means both a fortress and a chess piece, then 'Germanise' it somewhat.
thanks crucifernz
