You may or may not know that this year marks important 175th, 125th and 100th anniversaries for the author. And since novalis and doc have more or less punned the answer away, I will add to the hints by noting the "local boy made good" connection from my perspective. His hometown is certainly gearing up for the extra visitors expected for the anniversaries.
My daughter was able to escape your Sceptred Isle and make it Rome, ash clouds or no. Hopefully she's coming home May 19th after Italy, Greece and Nice with a stop in Amsterdam. Thank you England for your fine hospitality while she was there.
Pouring rain today - grading awaits.

Good afternoon all. Have been very busy changing the sign on DC (temporarily I have no doubt) to CCC and stocking with a variety of tinctures and snacks to suit all tastes! I imagine I am going to have to push the walls out to accommodate everyone because, if I can get it all 'dun & dusted' before the sun has reached the yard-arm, I am pretty sure all you CC's will have finished it well before breakfast Most enjoyable tho' the third of the trio had me racking my brain as I had completely forgotten that tome. Now, red, white or something else.........................................
............?
............?
Devadolly, well done. is that a record time to completion? I reckon a Hendricks and tonic is well deserved, just to open the digestive system.
So what is on the menu in the CCC, or just CC (Completers Corner). I'll throw in some Red Sancerre at a recommended 14°C to go with any cheese or game as seen fit.

CCC is Clever Clogsis Corner! Unfortunately I'm out of Hendrick's so it will have to be standard supermarket, might just add a touch of green apple to it tho'. Have got a bottle of Sancerre in the fridge for tonight, it's been winking at me from the wine-rack since we were given it for the 30 YHL. I don't know if it is a record but seeing as I don't usually get a chance to open the blessed paper before midday it seems like one. All I have to eat is a good selection of of English cheeses (including Somerset Brie and Camembert) with their traditional accompaniments + olives and almonds, anything else you must bring yourselves.
Indeed, Congratulations Copelander. We will bring some Bell's Bluemin White which comes from a farm near Thirsk and is currently stocked at our local supermarket (cue fireworks for Booth's!). Oh - perhaps I should confirm this is a cheese and not some weird bottle! Not quite finished yet (painting a fence) but mostly there.
Well done Copelander,
With the prospect of a larger than normal gathering in Completers Corner, perhaps an on-line order to one of the Supermarket sites, "other Supermarkets are available", for a few party trays might be prudent, with us just providing the drinks and the odd off-beat item, olives definitley Copelander and also gherkins. Those items from me would be some "chopped chicken liver and egg" and "Gefilte Fish" from my Jewish Grandmothers repertoire! Salivating already!

'Scuse Me! It it Clever Clogsis Corner if you please! It is where all you CC's congregate and try to barricade physicsgirl/christina and I out of when we are feeling low and thick, and you lot are all showing off as having finished and posted the puzzle before it was published!!! Well, that's what it feels like.
Can't seem to find the Listener Xword now any clues anyone? Also what is this Inquisitor xword and again, where? Feels strange with nothing to strain the brain over.
Many congrats copelander, how do you do it? Didn't you win two Listener's almost one after the other recently?

Hello AndrewG-S,
I like your avatar, we hope to be relaxing like that in a few weeks time, viz from middle of June, for a couple of weeks. I need the rest, I have done about 8 days work since our last holiday in November, far too many, but too profitable to turn down!
Herself, however has done quite a few days more, and is quite miffed at the movement of the goalposts in respect of receiving State Pension, Bus Pass and Winter Fuel Allowance!

Long story Copelander, but now probably a true representation of me, grey, alert and poised to pounce! Thanks for the sympathy on being overworked, have got several more days hard labour looming, 4 from now until the end of October! That obviously ignores the numerous days, at least 15 that I will work (unpaid) for the Local Talking Newspaper to the end of October.
Quite surprised that so few of the EV N&C Wine Clubbers remain as Jelly Babies!
