I suppose i should thank those who held off asking for answers until July, as requested. I have had a scan through and see over a quarter of the quiz has now been requested, not just clues but actuall answers given. I really dont understand why?? You send in your pound (or not in some cases) and I send out a sheet of CLUES for you to answer, then you ask for a second clue!! WHY?? Just to say for those who cant or wont play the game, my next quiz can at your request be sent to you with an answer sheet for to cut out the 'middle man' and as an added bonus I wont charge any extra. That shouls make life easier for all, and maybe instead of marking answers I'll just draw one at random, infact it could just be a raffle, with a few questions thrown in!!
Cheers everyone I'll just go and waste another few hours racking my brains for a few more clues for the next quiz, due out shortly for you to ruin!!

I don't see a problem with asking friends neighburs etc its not public for others to see, but you have to admit it makes it so unfair for some, who do not have internet access and rely on their brain power, like my late Mum, 83yrs and until she died attempted this type of quiz, on her own with a few reference books and her brain. What chance did she stand!! There must be many others like that. Its a problem.

I'm not sure I agree with your view on that, to all in tents and purposes asking others for answers is cheating, is that modern methods, cant see it standing up in an exam....'just googling the answer on my phone' ! and your second point - others email or photocopy and pass sheets on so not everyone pays their pound, but they still ask for answers on here.
I too deplore what's happened to the quiz/puzzle world thanks to the internet, Mouse, but I'm afraid you have to concede that there's nothing that can be done about it. The advanced thematic crossword world has been devalued completely - and, as you say, charity quizzes are now a total farce as all answers are consistently requested and given with zero effort on the part of the constant requesters.
I don't class this the same as an exam.
Lot's of people like to fill quizzes in by themselves and others do what they can then ask for help. I see using the internet and sites such as Answerbank as an efficient way of finding the answers.
If someone asked you to light a bonfire, would you scoff at someone who used a match instead of rubbing two twigs together? Times move on and people should move on with them.

Being a quizsetter I can appreciate the time, effort and thought that goes into producing a good quality quiz (or even a bad one in some cases).
I can also appreciate that getting 98 out of 100 answers and needing a nudge for the remaining 2 by asking for clues may be (sort of) acceptable.
I cannot fathom out the current practice of having a desperate need to complete each and every quiz even if you have 30 to 40 blank spaces to complete. The charity has your money, no-one is going to be nay the wiser if you admit defeat and go on to something else.
The idea of sending out answer sheets to entrants is a good one (but charge them double) as it would prevent us seeing the same old names supplying screeds of questions for other people to answer for them.
The only thing that will happen in the long run is that quizsetters will not bother anymore and good quizzes will disappear altogether.
I will now sit back and read the responses from the "ME - NOW!!" brigade

The odd help hear and there is not being decried. It is the listing of a quater to a half of all questions in a quiz (or should that be each and evey quiz) on here and other sites.
Why give all your"opponents" the answers? It's like running onto a football pitch and kicking the ball into your own net! What idiocy!

quizmouse...I do see your point and fully agree with you. Saying that I have asked for help in the past but I try not to unless I am realy stumped and the time for sending in the quiz is very close. Im sure the majority of us who do yours (and other setters) quizzes realy do appreciate all the hard work and try to stick to the rules. Thanks to you all and please do carry on the good work x
I am with Quizmaster on this one, when I first joined it seemed that people were genuinely asking that last couple of sticky questions. Now however certain quizzes generate whole lists of them and then the next day another raft of them.
I have had quizzes where I am well out of my depth and do not get the setters way, but do my best and send in with donation if not prepaid and then study the answer sheet to glean an insight into how the answers have been arrived at. Sent two away yesterday, both with gaps in but still thoroughly enjoyed them.
Oh and yes quizmaster, I do answer crossword queries on here but not the strong thematic type to which you refer as they are way out of my league.
Quizmouse don,t pack it in, your quizzes are great!

If I can help someone who is struggling with any quiz, I will help where I can. If the 1st prize was £1million instead of a tenner, then I probably wouldn't.
QuizmasterG - If you only enter quizzes to win, that seems a tad desperate to me. I'm sure we can arrange a whip round if times are really that hard for you.
The stories of "I remember the days when..." bear no weight with me I'm afraid. As long as sites like this exist, I for one will try and help answer ANY question when it is asked.
