Turkey customs entry

We have been advised by a major high street travel agent,that it is an accepted 'custom'
that a £10 note is expected to be passed over to the customs control officer on entry to the country.Is this a myth or fact ?
Anyone been to Dalyan ?

Fact.
It is called a 'sticker visa', involves handing £10 (or eqyuivalent in Euros or USD) over and your passport gets stamped. It lasts 3 months.

So it's a fee for an entry visa, not a customs back-hander, puts a whole different perspective on it!

Also- you can't take a £20 note for two people, has to be £10 each (or so my mum and dad were told when they went!)

you no longer pay the £10 at customs when showing your passport, they now have pay-booths in front where you pay, they then stamp your passport and you proceed to passport control to have it checked.

We recently returned from Dalaman airport in Turkey, and on arrival we handed over 2 £20 notes for myself, wife and 2 kids, without a problem. As an extra guide too, when travelling home through the Turkish airport, make your way through security/customs as early as you can, as your passport will also need an exit stamp. The queue at Dalaman took us around an hour to get through and the flight was then boarding.........

Make sure you are handing over £10 each, they are not in the habit of giving change... ie don't give a £20 for one person and expect to get a tenner back.And as others have stated ,it is a different control for this entry, but in the same area.
