I guess you will all find this extremely easy. A welcoming relief from the Listener that's for sure. So in a way nice one Glow-worm.

Not too much to tackle here today folks!

As you say tweaker very easy.

It's very rare that I can complete an EV over breakfast, but it does mean I can go back to the Listener!

Likewise mr K. I have been struggling with Kea's somewhat. Let's hope that by solving the EV so quick that I can now place fresh eyes back on the Listener.

The EV was still to some extent a neat little - non too taxing stroll - mind, I did mine before I went to bed last night. Glowworms last puzzle EV 911 MMO was by far tougher and more enjoyable, but EV means EV, so rough with the smooth.

I did this pretty much unaided, apart from 1a I used Chambers Words, which was a neat little buy and has come in handy on several occasions in the past.

There are a lot of common abbreviations, almost daily cryptics style in todays I'd say.

I'll give the Azed a run too I think today. If it comes available.
Not too difficult I agree - enjoyable though.
As for the Listener, for the moment I may just take the advice of the relevant poem...
Good Morning everyone,
I certanly feel better after this week's dose of EV.

Hi guys, yes this weeks was needed against the Listener I agree.
Definitely one for newbies I think. A good starting place, although
it could lead one into thinking they are all this accessible...
Which in most cases is not.
As you all say, fairly straightforward - but surely in 29ac more should be less?
Agreed, AHearer.

Probably my fastest EV solve ever - as easy as ABC, as the Jackson 5 once sang.

A Hearer, 29a yes that would work better, although I managed it and it made sense in a way but really rather lose..
Gosh, have managed to rattle off two EVs in a few hours after returning from a lovely holiday in Iceland. Do we brace ourselves for next week's offering as it ends in a zero?
Caught up with the N&C from last week - now facing a mound of ironing ;-(
Agree with the various comments. I'll just keep taking the tablets before next week's.
Yes, what a pleasant stroll after the Listener! We quite agree that there is an error in 29ac.
Hopefully no one will be in DC this week - would be dreadful as I fear it would be full of salad, peas, beans, fruit etc. etc. - appropriate though given the time of year. We are overrun with tomatoes. Some excellent claret for lunch, had far too much and found this something of a tonic
Hi AndrewG-S!

Am in the same state. Had too much ( if that's possible ) of a very palatable Merlot with my evening meal after finishing EV.
Hello Ringer, AndrewG-S and Novalis, et al,
Ringer, the past few weeks have left most of us wondering if we have, like the current A-level students, improved or if exams/EVs have been dumbed down! Are you hinting that perhaps Devadolly's nemesis, MrO might be next weeks's compiler!
AndrewG-S, Novalis, I suspect Copelander will be able to prescribe appropriate supplements to ensure DC is empty this week, however I also suspect she might also add "Drink responsibly!" Hopefully that means, don't spill it.
Dr b, did you enjoy your holiday, obviosly without any need to be excravassed!
I'd go with the flow in respect of 29a!
Hi all
I'm wondering whether the current trend of easier-to-solve puzzles is the editor's way of trying to entice new solvers. Do you remember when they started to print hints at the bottom of the page? Perhaps we shall all cheer if we see MrO's name next week.

We too are overrun with tomatoes and my other half has spent the afternoon freezing peas, blackberries and courgettes. I cooked a traditional roast beef dinner to placate my son who had not been on holiday with us, washed down with a Merlot for the men and a pleasant Sauvignon Blanc for myself (am avoiding the reds at the mo after a horrendous migraine a few months ago)
hi DocHH; Hiking was good if challenging this year; lots of climbing (11800 ft up, 12000 feet down, cumulatively over 7 days). Also ran into some snow, covering a boulder field, that was not expected. But, all my cuts, bruises and blisters are healed, leaving only good memories. Funny how that happens.
I have posted 6 or 7 small hikenphotos for those (if any) who wish to see them; I think this should work:

Wow!
That was my reaction too Ringer! Phenomenal photographs drb! No wonder you have such memories! I hope the accomodation on the way was comforftable, and not too basic! Herself will decide that a Hotel is unacceptable if it doesn't have a hair-drier in the bath-rooom!
