What a fun puzzle. The final step of turning the interim product into the final product made me laugh. Lots of thematic material and some well concealed misprints - bravo and huzzah!

7d It's a (Pashto) word used in India for a stone breastwork or a lookout post. In Chambers you are sent to the alternative spelling (second letter a not u).One letter is removed as indicated in the wordplay. Put the accompaniment + the letter into an anagram searcher if you have one.
I started and completed this today by happenstance. I completed my grid in pencil as usual. I was satisfied, so I went over it in ink. Then I looked at this thread. Oh dear, I now have a dilemma about how I entered the interim product. Originally executed the thematic movement only on 1/7th of it in order to make the final product. You are right that the preamble clearly states that the whole of the interim product is to be subjected to the thematic movement. HOWEVER, would it not be true to say that you would never execute the thematic movement until the interim product was almost completely transformed into the final one, or things could get very messy indeed. OK, I'll find the Tippex. (Sorry Dr. B Correction fluid?)

turast,
"Tippex", at least in the Midwest, is usually called White-out, after the most commonly sold brand. I like to perform the thematic movement on my interim product when it's about half done (anyone who has not worked the puzzle would read this and think we are insane).
I guess today is the thematic day! Happy thematic day, everyone!

Yes it would look rather peculiar, imagine instructing someone to:
Mix half of the entries clued without definition to form interim product. Put interim product into article identified in misprints. After suitable time effect thematic movement. Pause. Remove from article identified in misprints. Add one of the remaining entries clued without definition (up to the solver to select most appropriate). Enjoy final product.

I am aware of what the interim stage is and indeed what the final product is and where it should be highlighted in the grid. My dilemma is justification for the interim product from the clue provided without definition, and how it changes according to 1ac (which I still don't know what the two words are).
Turast
Thanks have now got justification for 7d.

Act impatiently is a 4 letter word, coincidentally an anagram of "beat". (Quite hard to find in Chambers I thought) Your other dilemma might be solved by a SHIFT in perspective. As I am an overenthusiastic cook, when I perform the thematic movement the last "misprints" word is more likely to be "ceiling" than anything else. Yes, any psychologist casually coming across this would be thinking PhD immediately.

Oh Andrew G-S, wonderful description of the preperation of our 'dish of the day'! I suspect the unwary would definitely think they had happened upon a therapy session from a nearby (very) secure unit! We must all sound mad as Hatters.
Bottom 3/4 all nicely filled in but am having trouble with 1a as I have a set (wrong) instruction firmly lodged in the brain, and you know what happens then.........nothing else seems to present itself. 7d has been troubling me but the answer given by you turast does not fit with my 18a..........................................

turast, I am still slightly concerned over the correct solution. The one you went for is both more elegant and more easy to type set. The alternative solution would involve bespoke characters which I think an editor would find very irritating. Anyway in the best way I could I thematically moved it all and we will find out in a couple of weeks which was right.
Obviously I was doing something wrong this evening! There was no way the interim product would perform the thematic movement from the place in the first position in the misprint! It was stuck, so no way it could arrive in the second of the places in the misprints, or even a higher lodging place! Fortunately only appearance rather than taste was at issue! Enough left over of the interim product for a repeat performance at breakfast tomorrow!
I'm now totally lost! Carl Woese?? Googled it and am none the wiser. Cannot trace the interim product, had hoped 7d was the final accompaniment, but obviously not and 1a is now about to be ripped from the page in rage. On my grid nothing looks as tho' it wants to move anywhere so I must have the wrong end of every stick going. I can feel an OTS moment coming on (as DC is just no fun now Physicsgirl has abandoned it and you clevercloggsis keep sniping at all the luxury items therein).
