My garden is looking pretty good after a lot of effort but the grass lets it down. There were a lot of daises and some other weeds in the grass.

I don't want to use weedkillers as I have a little dog and nothng is worth an acciden happening to her so I have painstacking took as many weeds out by hand as i can. About three carrier bags full.

I have re-seed the bare patches. If I keep doing this, over time will the weeds dissappear.

Unless you kill the roots they will just keep coming back.
I have two dogs and have used Verdone on my lawn very successfully over the last couple of years, I simply followed the instructions to keep them off until it dried without causing any ill effect to the dogs. It didn't do much to the daisies though so a couple of years ago every time I spotted one daring to flower I dug it out with a small pen knife, now fingers crossed it seems to be daisy free.
I think that's sad....I love to see daisies and violets in my grass.
Each to their own woofgang, my house has fields on two sides so I'm surrounded by daisies and dandy lions which I do think look beautiful, but not on my lawn.
I have no dandelions now, my tortoise ate them all. I am reduced to cultivating them in pots for her.
You should move to Lympsham in Somerset we have them by the field full at the moment.
I wish.....we used to live in Wells but moved away with DH's job.
I put a small pinch of salt right in the middle of dandelions and they die never to return, but I never get daisy`s, but I expect it would work on them as long as you get `em` young.
I personally don't mind a few daisies etc in the lawn, they add a bit of colour, and when I mow it, then they have gone anyway!............no problem!.........
got the same problem i have 4 little dogs and dare not risk putting any weedkillers on the weeds in my lawn as my dogs sometimes eat the grass. a part of my lawn is just moss and dandelions with little grass. yet next doors looks like a bowling green but she has no dogs to worry about only her pet cat. and why do the weeds grow faster than the grass lol .
"The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, but it's just as difficult to mow" :-)
net - thats about asking how do cuckoos survive - genentics - they just grow faster
