Wrong again! 9a does work for this method - Chambers has the defn
Do you have - North Norway?
My last one - think it may be Nor - stands for north or Norway
Thanks Roslyn - Are you getting anywhere with the across clues?
yes - all finished. Just look in Chambers e.g. 51a y can be an abbrev for impedance. There are some countries in there, physics terms etc but they are all in Chambers as abbreviations.
sorry that should have been 51a (Z not y)
Which Chambers have you got Roslyn? Mine's the 10th Edition.
Mine's the 9th
I think I may have cracked it..........with your help. Thanks
Hi Roslyn are you about? I'm still having a problem with 3 that don't seem to be in my version of Chambers - 9a - 33a and 47a any pointers would be appreciated.
Morning JimJools - I have
9a in the year
33a run (although it's with r rather than R)
47a tango
Hi Roslyn - That's what I thought - Not 9a I wasn't thinking of something with more than one word - but yes I think you're right. Tango isn't in my Chambers as a t but did consider that, as I did with Run but as you say it's not with a capital R. Thanks for your help Roslyn.

Thanx all. I get it now though online chambers doesn't seem to be up to the job.
Can you give me answer to 17d and 28d
17d Mantua
28d Procrustean
Do you have a dictionary in book form - even if it isn't Chambers it may be more help than the on-line one.
re 9a - a is abbrev for anno (latin in the year) AD anno domini
Hi, I've come to a stop on the right hand side, can someone please tell me if 18d is Poor Laws? Thank you.
On second thoughts, I think it may be Poor Rate. Thanks.
Yes - That's what I have Merched.
Thank you, JimJools, I can move on now.
