Do you have to subscribe to your own question to receive email notifications if someone responds to your question?
I only ask because I asked a question a few weeks ago and only by chance checked back to see that people had answered and I hadn’t been notified?
When I’ve answered a question and subscribed to it I get the email?
I’m using a yahoo.com address if that makes a difference?
I've heard that about her Umm! ;-) I'm sure you used to get an email when anyone answered your own question? Or do you now have to go back and subscribe to it as well?
Yes, you do. It doesn't matter what email address you have. When you post your question, tick the little box on the left under the question box, "subscribe" - you then get notified. You can also wait until you've posted in and then tick the subscribe link posted under your question, either results in emails every time your thread is answered.
Thank you, silly me for thinking they'd let you know someone had answered your question! ;-)
Bloody hell, are you still on here whiskey? I only come on to cheat at the crosswords these days! Where's the old crowd? :-( Oh, and it's Friday night, get out..
Personally, I think it would be a good idea if all questions and answers were automatically regarded as having been 'subscribed' and e/mail alerts would then be unnecessary; unless specifically requested.
We are able to see on the right hand side of our monitors the position regarding 'Subscribed Threads' and can also click into our Profile page to confirm matters.
I honestly feel that my suggestion would obviate the necessity of having to delete a lot of e/mails from one's inbox or, as is in my case, the junk mail box to which I admit having directed all e/mails from AB, which can then be removed with a single click of the mouse; as opposed to the 'inbox' which requires each e/mail being individually deleted.
we used to be notified by email automatically when our own Qs got a response (though you could switch it off on individual threads when you'd had enough). I don't know why this was junked.
Ron, I think that would be a bad idea - as it is, I subscribe to other people's threads if I'm interested, I only subscribe to my own if I am waiting for an answer e.g. a crossword - it's surprising how quickly the inbox fills up with "dear boxtops, you have a reply..." I wouldn't want them automatically!
Boxtops...With my proposition you would no longer get e/mails to fill-up your in-box. You would be automatically 'subscribed' but as such there would be no 'alert e/mail' but there would be an up-date in the 'Subscribed Threads' which appear on the right hand side of your computer's screen.
