sky box RF output
4 Answers
I have had my new house set up with wires carrying digital tv and one carry sky satellite round the house. I have been told though that sky is realising people are cheating and doing what I have done other than buying sky multi-room. And as a result I have heard that this system I have will only last as long as the sky box I have has an RF output which sky will be working out of their boxes eventually to stop people doing what I have done. My 1 year old box has a RF output but now I am moving house I am considering upgrading the sky+hd. But will the new sky+hd box have a RF output??
Any help has anyone a new model box and can check?
Thanks in advance

I'm actually amazed that the inclusion of an RF modulator unit wasn't discontinued long ago. The modulator's only (official) use was to provide a signal to TV sets without a Scart socket. Since Scart sockets have been standard on new TVs for around a couple of decades now, there would seem to be no logical reason to retain the RF modulators.

The difference is that you can only get the same channel on all your televisions at any particular time - what you watch on the main television is what you have to watch on the others. Multi-room lets you watch different channels via a separate box in each room, so it's a lot more versatile.
A lot of the HD boxes do still have RF outputs, but obviously you would need to make sure a particular model has before buying it.
