I'm getting a bit concerned about my little one's eating - he's very healthy so i'm not worried about that, but i just can't get him to eat different things. I'm still buying those packet meals/purees for him so that at least i know he's eating something! he loves my hubby's home-made soup, will happily sit and munch on a few wotsits, and the occasional biscuit/farleys, and adores bananas and yoghurts but when it comes to trying to give him anything "normal" to eat, he refuses it! he'll bite the corner of bread/toast but then just play with it and throw it on the floor after about 3 bites (mini-bites at that). Anyone got any suggestions on how to introduce things? i've tried putting bits of other foods in with these packet purees for him to get used to the taste and texture, but he just ends up refusing the whole meal.

try slowly introducing your foods to him by pureeing them. Then very slowly make them thicker with larger and larger lumps. You need to either alter the type of food or the lumps but you cant do both at same time.
Children all develop at different rates, you could also try leaving snacks out where he can get to them, cut grapes, bits of banana, raisins, small bits of cheese etc and let him see you snacking on them. he may then follow suit
He's still very young. When you consider they recommend weaning from between 6 and 12 months I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just persevere...and keep trying different things.
