well after extensive research (cos it's bugging me) I can reveal Disney DID change the name of the Princess from Badroulbadour to Jasmine.

Unfortunately this does not tie in with your clue, but I shall carry on looking

Right, as said, EXTENSIVE research and I may have sussed it. Seriously, I have been through sites with a fine tooth comb, and this is the only thing I can find which actually fits.

The original story was set in China and had an EMPEROR.
