MM Links Results April 2012 Week 3

This week's game is now over so I can now reveal that the links chosen by our April setter, Regal Roslyn (aka roslyn251254), were:

SHOWER CURTAIN
OPEN SESAME
SNAP DRAGON
KING GEORGE

Now that was better - wasn't it?

Despite there being several options available, the majority of you were on the same wavelength as 'Regal Roslyn'.
So many in fact, that my abacus was overheating calculating who should get a share of all those 51 points. Yes - a true bonanza.

Several players matched multiple pairings - we even managed a clean sweep by one player! But more of that later.

Firstly, all links were discovered in the first minute of play, meaning all the regular bonus points expired at 9:04

OPEN SESAME was first to fall to the very first player rockfordill. 2 points for him and also for evsajo, lysander, ulysses100 and seekeerz who were within the 2-minute bonus window.

Player #4, lysander, then picked off SNAP DRAGON and KING GEORGE along with 'open sesame' to become the first triple hitter and collects 6 points.
Also in time for a bonus on 'snap dagon' was seekeerz.
Also in time for a bonus on 'King George' was owllady.

The final link of 'Shower Curtain' fell at 9:02 to player #7, Christiana (2 points). I wonder of the motel she is staying in near Cairns reminded her of Psycho?
Within two minutes of her were seekeerz, middlestump and Aquagility, all qualifying for bonus points, so 2 points each.

The more astute readers amongst you will have seen seekeerz being mentioned three times there. Yes. She is also a triple hitter earning 6 points in total.

That is not all. At 9:05, patchett also matched three links and became triple hitter number 3. Alas she only receives 3 points. She missed the cutoff by just one minute. I always say 'Play early to be in with a better chance of the bonus points'.

So who is to be Hotshot Of The Week?
No problem.
One hour into the game and along came BigMac to make A CLEAN SWEEP OF ALL 4 MATCHES! Four single points + a 2-point bonus for the clean sweep = 6 points.

It has been ages since we have had such a feat so I have no hesitation in calling up all the trumpets, bugles and drums to celebrate

You certainly did guess 'open season' but the magic words we were looking for were 'OPEN SESAME' so I'm afraid it is still 'nul points'.
