I would be interested to know why you are carrying out a poll on the above,as I am one of the VERY FEW that use it?Will you next have a poll on whether or not to give the answers to crossword puzzles,in which the winner could win £1-2,000?,Or maybe even vote on whether or not ABers should be allowed to download recipes from the site? The list is endless.

I have just spoken to the Daily Mail & they have assured me that the T & C's are NOT violated by the asking for, or the provision of, a number.

As long as ONE paper is purchased, that ONE number can be used by anybody, with the purchaser's permission.

Duncer - ...but why should we provide numbers to people who don't buy the paper, or seem not to?

There's...

I don't mind helping with crosswords, but this thing with the Daily Mail, someone has got to buy it in the first place.
So why can't the people who want these numbers, get up and buy the DM like the rest of us???
Maybe Ed should have a pre-poll before any poll so we can vote on whether to have a poll.
johnty - do you know how to prepare cornflakes?

lol @ factor
Polls just kick start a debate, there have been many on different topics.
The best reason I heard for someone wanting a number was that "They live on a Island"
SO DO I, it's called Great Britain.
oo oo I get this one.....then we need a poll to decide if we should have a poll about having a poll.
The poll is to establish whether AB will countenance your fraud (as defined by the Daily Mail Rewards Club T&Cs).

---------
"Fraud" includes any fraud, dishonesty or deceit and includes... obtaining Mail Points other than in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

A User must purchase a copy of the Publication to be eligible to register a Unique Number.

Accounts will terminate automatically if we reasonably believe that you have committed an act of Fraud against us or any Partner.

I cannot find any T&Cs forbidding the sharing of information in regard of Prize Crosswords or Recipes.
This is the sort of thread which invites Cross words from me. The OP has put forward an excellent question and, as Recipes have been mentioned, I dislike all folk who 'Cook Books'....which is what some Aber's are doing.

Ron. One would imagine that the OP saw that there was indeed a poll before he wrote his post. If only he had read the poll thread he would have seen the answer to his question: ///why you are carrying out a poll///

When the Editor was asked what the outcome of the poll would be, he replied:

Whether we remove postings for/sharing mail rewards club numbers OR whether we cater for it.
If asking for a reward card number is going against the rules of the DM contest because they want you to buy a paper, ABers shouldn't be doing it. Nobody says you have to buy a paper to do a crossword or read a recipe, you can get those from the on-line version of the paper (as you can with the Rewards club numbers).
In a nutshell, boxtops.
I think it's a very valid poll as it's against the rules of the competition. It's along similar lines to giving out radio codes and in the real world flashing other drivers to let them know there's a speed trap round the corner.
I agree with all who have posted since my comments were expressed and am pleased to observe that the Poll is going the way I would wish.

Ron.
Did you understand the purpose of the poll Johntywino?
surely 'Using our Site 2.3' cover the sharing eligibility side of it?
It does just seem all goody two shoes and precious though to be honest and it does make me wonder if those who object really do have enough to do.
my objection is not so much about sharing these numbers etc but the fact that this site is so heavily moderated and yet it appears OK to break the T&C's of other sites
NOX - I have no objection to helping out every now and then, but why should we provide numbers to people who don't buy the paper, or seem not to? One poster has posted ten times, ALL to ask for numbers.

I'm more than happy to help with croswords as the questions come from people who have bought the paper in question.
To be honest the whole quizzes an puzzles section ticks me off- I mean kid yourselves all you like but if you can't do it yourself and use someone else's brain power it's cheating. I do crosswords and either I can do them or I can't- wouldn't dream of asking anyone else.
