St Where Was I?

Does anyone think the the first two paragraphs of clues are ambiguous today? I read it one way, my husband reads it another way.

I think that the first answer (the second town) is the riverside town. He thinks it is the next town visited.

I'm not asking for an answer here because we've worked out all the clues. I just need clarification of which of the towns is being asked for.

Tell me how you read the clues please.

I read it as being the town with the 207ft tramway which he mentions second with the first (riverside) town mentioned being the one he's on his way to via the second mentioned one.

Is that what you get?
