I have what is supposed to be a wireless modem supplied by Talk Talk but it only works when I'm in the same room as the modem. Will I have to get a an additional modem if I want to use it downstairs.
Look down at the bottom right corner of the screen near the clock (if using windows). There is a computer icon with 2 green curved lines next to it. Double click on that icon and it will open up the "Wireless Network Connection" window. It will show a set of bars indicating the wireless connection strength
To be honest I've had problems with Talk Talk modems in the past. If you can afford it I'd suggest just going out and buying your own router, even the nice cheap belkin routers have a great signal strength.
I tried something new,I got connected to the internet using the cables when i got connection I disconnected all the cables and took the computer downstairs and it is working ok now.
bottom right of your computer should have a signal thingy like a mobile phone. and it should be at full strength if you are in the house.....or talk talk should replace it for you x
