Bohr. Sounds like bore (carried).
SI unit of energy....I think.
Some one will confirm!!

I think you've got the 'h' wrong, W. 7 down is 'ragwort', based on an anagram of 'grow'...ie 'gwor' within 'rat' meaning to 'desert'. Thus 6 across is b*r*, so I came up with 'bore', meaning 'carried'. I get the 'e' at the end for the standard crossword abbreviation for 'energy', but fail to see the significance of 'bor' for 'save'!
(I wonder what you have for 7 down!)
Just got it...seconds after signing off above! It's 'bare', not 'bore', the former being an old-fashioned version of the latter. 'Bar', of course, means 'save' in the sense of 'except'..."all bar one"..."all save one".

Thanks all. Yes it is bare - weird! They're getting harder/weirder.
