Hey folks the club is open, come on in!
On tonight's agenda we have the Minstrels back again in the gallery with the usual selection of madrigals and fugues, local favourites, the Tone Deafs are playing in the ballroom, tonight they are giving us a selection of covers from the 1970's (break out the loon pants and tanks tops everybody!) Also for members entertainment, the hot tub is bubbling away on the north tower, the bungee is awaiting it's first vic... volunteer.... the racing track is ready for use as are the rowing boats down by the lake. Tonight's tailcock will be the "Hooray Henry" an interesting brew with more than a hint of ginger! Our hot plate special is meatballs in a red wine sauce with pasta, and on the pudding trolley we have tiramisu, as well as the usual selection of canopies and volley vonts. For our members further entertainment, I have to announce the opening of the Towers' gym! Situated in the cellars near the indoor swimming pool (cossies are available for those without one)
Please remember try not to upset Sir Cumference the Towers ghost (doesn't like too much noise) In view of the inclement weather here at the Towers the games room is all set up for our guests.
Anyone wishing to stay over please see Belle in the vestibule to arrange a suite.
For the rofl tonight I have:
1 cross stich kit, half done, chart lost
pack of blunt needles
2 odd socks
jar of assorted buttons
A warm welcome awaits all who dare enter these portals
Oh, tiramisu! You angel Nungate. It looks splendiferous.
And the roffle . . . If Tone doesn't want dibs on the cross-stitch set, I shall be hanging my liver out over it.
I was just checking out my sewing kit the other day and it might tempt me back to it
There you go again! On at me chains! I'd resign if I was actually employed here! I'll wrap them up in cotton wool next time I make me rounds in the dark of the night
I'll be doing Frank's "minion" review soon, though I must say after his initial bad start he has settled down and keeps himself busy - he's as bad as Igor for chain polishing!
You a stitcher then Mammar? I have a sewing room here at the Towers you know, you're welcome to have a peep inside ..
The roffle . . . Be ready to be amazed. .
A very old shaving strop that needs saddle soaping
A magnifying glass a la Sherlock Holmes
Assorted worn out batteries
And, wait, for it, a map of France from WW1.
What makes you think we've been getting stuff out of the loft?
I'm currently knitting more than I'm stitching at the moment as I'm less likely to drop the knitting needles than the sewing needles.
Plus, I can see to knit but threading those ruddy sewing needles. . .
Oo perhaps we could train Frank to thread me some needles when Igor has no need of him
Err, re the map, I must confess it's more like a jigsaw puzzle with square pieces than it is a map but in view do it's considerable age and importance I cannot bear to just throw it
Never thought about having Frank thread my needles, though in all fairness I manage the threading of needles quite well still. Can't knit for toffee! I guess that gene passed me by, my mum was a beautiful knitter, knitted all sorts, arran was her particular favourite, though she did knit me two beautiful shawls for Queenie I still have them, and if I'm ever a Grandma I'll give them to her
It's crochet that past me by but one of these days. . .
I'll just sort out a bit more of that tiramisu being as there's nothing tasty in my old homestead this eve, more's the pity.
I wonder if Tone needs a new tank top?
The reason I asked, nungate is that my great uncle Earnest died on the first day of the Somme offensive, he was in the 1st battalion South Staffs regiment. There objective was to take Mammetz and move on to Albert, he was awarded the Military Medal for his actions that day ( not much of a trade imo, life for a medal ).
