It would seem that this logo has also come up for some criticism.

No, it may mean that the person is an enthusiastic Ulster Unionist, manifesting their allegiance to the cause. Whether that is a good thing might be debatable.
The swastika has a long history ,pre-dating Nazism. There was a laundry in Ireland which had it as its symbol; it may even have been called the Swastika Laundry.

// Does A Raised Arm Salute, Always Mean A Nazi Salute? //
I'm not sure if it's exclusively linked with the Nazis, but it's never a good thing to do. Anyone who does this type of salute is a tw4t.

I'm not surprised. It's obviously based on a Swastika. Do you think it's ok?

what is that signal, Steve? It isn't actually covered in the following examples on that page. It looks as if he's just waving to his mum in the crowd.
Anyway... no, the second one is a black power salute by US athletes in the 1968 Olympics, and involves a clenched fist.
The Nazi salute involves a stiff arm (Steve's umpire hasn't got one), open palm facing downward. The Helmand photo looks suspiciously like one of these. What were they thinking?
