The vast majority of questions in Crosswords seem to get answered correctly within a minute or two. Occasionally some drag on for 10-15 minutes as various options or explanation are discussed but solution always seems to be agreed upon.
So I was wondering- has there ever been a clue on AB that no-one has been able to resolve? Is someone somewhere still struggling with a clue from maybe months ago? Maybe we can help? (I'm off work this morning and at a bit of a loose end.)
If nobody could get a clue then they would find out when the solution is published so unlikely to still be strugling months later. Its a sunny morning factor, go out and weed the flower bed!
Thanks PP. I have been lucky enough not to have had a day off through illness for over 10 years. No, it's just half term- I've been running some revision classes this week and doing some private tuition but am taking the morning off as my half term. Sorry- sounding like Chatterbank now. Reported!
Well I still have one in my head from about 20 years ago and I never saw the answer (I think it was in a New York paper on holiday). The clue was "short on the epidural".
I did try it on here a year or two ago but there was some doubt as to which of my two suggestions was right- "lack number" or "back number"
It is a lovely day- we're going off into the hills at lunchtime so I'm happy pottering indoors for now. I've done the ironing so have no more pressing matters
an epidural numbs your back, so is a back number surely?
Baldric, FF would be busy every day if fed up was still here.
Factor it is a joke clue - answer - Tom Cat (and no I didnt make it up)
Exactly, grasscarp. I had a preference for lack number but back number seemed the more poular choice.
I do remember a clue that was "Eggs on?" and the answer was TOAST
My mother was a crossword addict, she was wondering about a clue in the Universe which was Plant - 7 letters. When the answers came out it was Factory!
