Good evening and Welcome to Mad Over Fifties Club.
Igor is ready and waiting at the door to collect coats, cloaks and brooms for concealment around the Towers, whether or not they will be returned to their owners at the end of the evening remains to be seen.
Tonight's Tailcock will be the "Glasto Mud Bath", an earthy brew I have been informed, yet, potent! Come and dip your buckets in the vat and give it a try.......
We have organised a barbecue down on the beach, members can fix up their own favourites be it burgers, hit dogs or ribs, just go and toss something on the grill! The ice cream van has been hired for the evening and is situated down at the beach so just ask Luigi for your hearts desire. For members who do not fancy an evening on the beach we are happy to announce that the running buffet is back, all you have to do is catch it! A selection of volly vonts, canopies and horses doovers can be found in the great hall for members too slow to catch the buffet. Members wishing to dance can do so in the ballroom, where we have the Enrique Postlethwaite Samba band playing for us tonight, and for those of a more cultural bent Professor Humphrey Humphries will be giving a talk on the finer points of iambic pentameter in Shakespearian Tragedy in the library (no I haven't a clue either but it sure sounds good!)
All facilities here at the Towers are available to members with no restrictions (unlike last meeting) so feel free to make use of the extensive
range of facilities we have on offer.
A warm welcome awaits all who dare enter these portals

not yet ..... too many distractions! Besides I avoid shopping like the plague! Prefer to shop on line and have it delivered, though I think you can't by hats that way!
Thats a thought, nungate. I've never tried to buy an hat on line well not a mother of the bride one anyway ;-)
Got to have a flat cap, tony......very good for weddings too.
Question Author
I have a blue herringbone pattern flat cap, bought it in Dunn's years and years ago - still have it............................somewhere!
Yeah, might get one DT, it will go with my whippet !.
By the way it's 2 nil now, nungate.
well those stairs beckon, so will say au revoir à tous. Thank you and sleep well all.
Question Author
Good night DT, and thanks, things are progressing. Been very quiet tonight.

G'night then, DT.

Only 3 mins left, nungate.

The thing is, we've seen all of these Montalbano's and I also have the boxed set of dvds (Queenie gave them to me for Christmas)
What are Montalbano's, nungate ?.
Question Author
well, you know how everyone is gushing over the Scandi crime thrillers? Montalbano isn't. It's set in Sicily and is rather good, sometimes funny and just good to watch, BBC4 are showing the programmes from Series 1 and the first one was on tonight, Mr.N and I like to watch them, but since we've seen them at least twice I thought we would see the football or the Transformers film on 4 as I'd started to watch that and he got interested but had to turn over to watch Inspector Montalbano!
LOL, looks like watching them for a third time then, nungate.
Question Author
Don't mind really, as there is usually nothing worth watching on tv at weekends these days. Just as well I have a huge dvd collection!
Yep, tv is rubbish of late, nungate.
Question Author
I suppose we could always watch the footie - depending on the team in my case, or the tennis, depending on who's playing - can't be doing with those grunting women! Billie Jean King never grunted like that, not Chris Evert or the fabulous Evonne Goolagong Crawley!
No thats right about the grunting women, nungate. Seems to be the Williams sisters that do the grunting these days.

Good night, nungate. Thanks for a lovely evening as usual.
Question Author
you off too Tony? Since it's just the two of us I could slope off too, I have things I can be getting on with, maps to study, book to read, crossword to finish...................
Good night then, see you in the funny papers!
