Hi can anyone give advice on Greek Island hopping we are going to Santorini in a few weeks have only booked return flight and want to explore a few islands , I did this 25 years ago when you could just wander through villages and look at pension signs for rooms and pay probably £6 a night ! Can this still be done for say £20 a double or is everything now done on air b&b where rooms seam to be a minimum of £45 up to £150 per night and the cheaper all booked !

people with rooms still meet the ferries especially on the smaller islands that (bliss) have no airport

However, prices have gone up (along with standards) and £45 plus is commonplace.
When you arrive at Santorini, you will realise that this is the best Island of Greece and you will not want to leave it. IMO. Went last year and cant wait to go back. Bit worried that you have not booked any accommodation in Santorini as accomodation is limited on the island , you MAY struggle to find somewhere to stay when you arrive, suggest that as you have time you pre book .
Santorini is wonderful

but it is also one of the most crowded and over commercialised and not over-blessed with good beaches.

Unless you have your own boat, a quick sight seeing tour and then off round some of the less commercialised (non package holiday airport) islands in the Cyclades would be my advice; Naxos, Paros, Serifos, Amorgos for example.
