Scam?

My daughter's partner has received an e-mail advising a £250,000 lottery win.

Yes I know, but - he has entered the lottery involved.

The company are asking for him to advise a delivery address and next of kin - so far no asks for bank details etc., the usual scam request.

So - could they just be lucky, or is this yet another dodgy mail?

I hope he is a winner. Could he check the numbers he played with those drawn?

How would they know his e-mail address - or did he give it when buying the ticket?

Can he not contact the genuine lottery himself to check ?
Never react directly to information held in the e-mail itself.

Ask them to send you the serial no of their Lottery Ticket Andy.

Thanks everyone - it is a scam- they started talking about a 'delivery charge' to bring the cheque round, so all contact from our side ceased at that point.

Some of these include, I can not call due to work, but " I Will send my AGENT"

you'll know when they ask for some sort of admin fee.

The most I know of a win was a co-worker getting £1000 on lotto

I always ask myself ... (e.g.) This is very good of them. Why are they letting me know? How did they get to know whereas I, the ticket-holder, don't know? What's in it for them - why should they bother?

I am very well aware of the 'If it sounds to good to be true ...' motto, so my daughter and partner entered communication expecting the scam element to surface at any moment, and they were not disappointed.

I was! I shall have to cancel that Porche now!!!

Easy to spot, they always ask for some sort of admin/processing charge, no genuine win would do that.
