White and fright are not homophones, merely rhymes. A homophone must sound exactly the same.

Yes, I think it's OR ( rather than ORE) that goes with AWE

Can't think of anything better although OR is a bit iffy, it's a french word and one wouldn't normally describe anything being the colour or

Well yes it's french for gold but you wouldn't say he's wearing an or tie :-)

By the same token you would not say he's wearing an argent, sable, vert tie but they are the heradlic erms for silver, black and green.
