In the aftermath of the election and when the dust has settled, can we all keep reminding our elected representatives of the inequalities that exist in our society. Heartbreaking call today from a young mum who was sobbing her heart out because she couldn't afford nappies for her young baby. I could only point her to a foodbank in the hope that they could help. Keep having to remind myself that this is 2015!

Personally I am shocked by how many people I see searching through litter bind for food.
Bins
Your right maggie, this should not be happening in this day and age.
Now that Dave is back in power I'm afraid there is much more to come.
I sense a bit of spin going on here. There has to be more to this story. Who is this woman and what is her situation?
'who is this woman and what is her situation' ? yes Maggie is going to reveal this ladies details on a public forum .
I'm not asking for her name.
// can we all keep reminding our elected representatives of the inequalities that exist in our society //

Yep, here's one for starters..

ukip - 13% of the vote - 1 MP
SNP - 5% of the vote - 58 MPs
Was the call made from her iphone?
I believe maggie is a volunteer for the Samaritans.
^ and?
Just sayin like.
Three cheers for Maggie

Bet you won't hear that on many election threads
I don't think it's only the elected representatives who need reminding, Maggie.....x
Women with babies a) get shed loads of money off the state. b) Don't get sanctioned.
Did she have an excuse for being skint. (the price of crack doesn't count,,,,,,,,,,,down here, anyway.)
I’m really sorry Tony, I didn't mean to sound sharp but if mums being unable to afford to buy nappies was really a problem I don’t think Maggie would have been the first the hear about it.
We all need to think about the glaring gap between the haves and have nots in this world, regardless of who is in power.

It is indeed heartbreaking to see others situations at times.
*to hear .... getting late.
I'm sure Maggie wasn't the first to hear of it - people usually call the Samaritans when they have reached rock bottom and tried other avenues.

I know.
I don’t think Maggie would have been the first the hear about it.

Of that I have no idea, naomi.
