What Sort Of Things Do You Find In Your Garden?

I would be the first to admit that parts of my garden is not as pristine and cared for as some of you manage. the bushes are not neatly trimmed (they resemble dense jungle and the grasses are a little high (only just above the waist) but the weeds are flowering well and the bees like them.

however i thought it might be time to dust off the strimmer so had a quick look round. and mrs pheasant has made herself a nest in the middle of it so that's it. it will just have to stay as it I for the next couple of months.

any unexpected finds in your gardens?

I found a dead white dove under a shrub that I was trimmimg, yesterday.

Some ****** house painter threw empty emulsion pots over the garden fence.
Every new bloom and emerging plant is a delightful find. I do lots of walking around, looking sort of gardening.

Yesterday, a Sparrowhawk spooked us as it swooped and made off with a young starling.
My mate is coming to do my garden this weekend. I will let you know what I find....

I once saw a buzzard plucking and eating a pigeon/wood dove. too late to do anything. watched it through the kitchen window.
Blue Tongue Lizards, there is one that will come up to me and gnaw on my toe to get my attention, and some food.
I have a "wild life" corner in my garden. Very overgrown at the moment but I'm reluctant to clear it just now as I'm sure it will be teeming with insects. Another way of saying I'm bone lazy lol.
You're not lazy, Maggiebee. You're a carer for the environment.
I have a fine crop of nettles towards the bottom of the garden. I'm sure I read somewhere they provide food and shelter for lots of insects.

I must admit the only tidy bits are the veg beds and the fruit cage. everywhere else is slightly unkempt and that includes the pond.

This garden isn't as exciting as the last which was very old and much had been buried......bottles.....clay pipes.....military button.....and I discovered a beautiful brick well....

This one is like Hoppy's....when I lift lawn I find rubble and bricks....though I did find some false teeth in the pond once....x
