I am having fun with the newly distributed Pendleside Hospice Dingbats but am tearing my hair out in particular at nos. 18, 24, 40, 46 and 48. ANY pointers or clues would be gratefully received.

Thank you mallyh. I went out for a breath of fresh air! All I wanted was a clue to unblock my thinking in a few areas from some friendly folk not lectures, albeit brief lectures, from 'helpful folk' who always seem to want the last word. I'm SO pleased I don't do any Social Media or other 'sociable' things. Cracked that one now so onwards and upwards.........
Bless you mallyh! Yes, I've been down that avenue (cul de sac!) - She is a columnist for the Guardian. The actual thing underlined is:- e. Ga7 Ms Toynbee. It also looks like 'eager' but I can't link that to any films, Polly or Columnist and is it really a number 7? Eeek! Been having some R&R in the garden instead!
Thank you so much for even trying to help scorpiojo and mallyh. I've just logged in and seen your discussions - though it's ratified just how limited I am! I didn't understand what you were saying to each other. I had no idea a ga7 was a phone (though I do now that I've looked it up) and still didn't find any connection with the clue even after searching through Mel Gibson films on Google. I've amused myself this morning buying plants at a garden centre and think I will give up quizzing for gardening! It's not so challenging or frustrating.
..and if you want to know what POARD was, have a read of this:
