A big big disappointment for sqad as i expected something rather...special....unique...clever....an unexpected twist, but it was all so predictable....and normal. Infidelity leads to pregnancy which leads to a breakdown of a marriage, which happens all the time on a daily basis throughout the world.
However, the dinner party scene was sensational and saved the final episode from mediocrity.
hc...yes, I know what you mean..........but were you not expecting a "twist" at the end...e.g the baby was the Accountant's ;-) and he, the husband was "knocking off " the Accountants wife?
Yes, I agree with Sqad, I expected something a bit more startling at the end. I suspect, though, that the emphasis on repeatedly referring to the girlfriend as a "***" was intended to plant in our minds that idea that the husband was being taken for a fool, and the baby was not his. A great drama series, but a slightly disappointing finish.
^^^ LOL...yes i agree, although Suranne Jones does play miserable looking, cigarette smoking " can't get enough of it" characters, not at all soft or likable.....as in Scott and Bailey.
I'm not sure what 'twist' I was expecting but some of the scenes were very memorable.
As said, the dinner party was amazingly tense.
The scene that moved me was when she drove into the field , the conversation with her son and how her work ethic had made him feel isolated from her was very moving.
i ws also disappointed, i expected her to come out on top (after all, she'd had 5 hours to work out how to!)
however, she ended up divorced, presumably a single parent, having to be pleasant to her ex husband's new girlfriend when she saw hr in the street - hardly "on top"
