Should Donald Trump Stop Using Adele's Music In His Rallies?
The only other time I recall something like this happening was when Billy Bragg demanded that the BNP stop selling his music at their gatherings.
Once material is in 'the public domain', do artists have a right to it's use?

Or is Adele being precious?
FYI - I'm totally behind Adele here, but that's based more on my political leanings than anything else.

Of course he should stop. It's one thing him playing music at a party but doing what he is doing, as with REM, associates an unwilling artist with his toxic brand. I can't see that he had much to gain my defying the artist in question. Find a music artist who likes you Mr Trump. And good luck with that.

Yes he should
But there are many things he should do:
Apologise to Mexicans
Get a haircut
Sell his Scottish golf courses
Stop fantasising about his own daughter
Lose some weight
Be very afraid
Realise that everybody actually despises him and only stick around for the money
Wander about on an unlit road dressed in black. While drunk.

You've used the term 'no worse than', whereas it would be more accurate to have written 'completely different to'.
New Labour approached the band D:Ream to use their song 'Things Can Only Get Better' in their election campaign.
D:Ream gave their consent.
That's literally the opposite of what's happening here and now...not 'no worse than'.

I recall Bruce Springsteen protesting at Ronald Reagan using 'Born In The USA' as one of his rally soundtracks.
Actually, I would have encouraged Mr Reagan to play the song more and more, for two reasons.
One - the song is a bitter polemic against exactly the kind of American society that Mr Reagan was promising to renew.
Two - it proved that neither Mr Reagan or his 'people' had bothered to listen to the song, or if they couldn't be bothered with that, to check out the lyrics, a glance at which would have told them that they were using entirely the wrong song to encourage their voters!
Neither of those would have painted Mr Reagan in a good light as a politician, or a music fan!
