fender62 - //it should made illegal in all western countries, it would help women in the long run
escape the misogynist cultural chains of there old countries, and help them integrate into the 21 century, and being it's illegal the husbands would have to except it and get over it, or move back to there country of origin, in the long run
it would become the norm and excepted, i think it would help and end division.
there would of course be teething problems at first, but i t would pass //
This view depends entirely on the unfounded assumption that Asian and African women wear a burqua do so because they are forced to, either by their husbands or by cultural contraints.
I believe that this is a western media construct - it may be that some women are so constrained, but that does not mean that all are, and it certainly does not mean that western society can be equally dogmatic and censorial.
Surely the irony of saying a woman is forced to wear a garment, and then forcing her not to wear it, cannot be lost on intelligent western society?
