Terrorist Names And Photographs.

I've been listening to a chap saying that one reason the police identify these killers so quickly is because they are desperate for the kudos they think they'll receive for their actions....to be known to be martyrs.

Would it be possible for the police to never confirm their names......to not have photographs published?
Yes, I know others will name them somehow......so maybe my meanderings are futile...I'd be inclined to give false names......well it's not my only inclination to be honest but I'd like to stay alive and free a little longer....

Is this a possibility?......What would the reasons for not doing it be?

Just my thoughts.....because that's the only place my thoughts seem to be today....Gx

I agree - everyone who needs to know will already know - for investigation of contacts and backgrounds.

Beyond a vague prurient interest, no-one else needs to know actual names - although details of their background should be released to avoid any cries of 'suppression of facts to suit agendas'.

Withholding their names from the general public wouldn't prevent them from being perceived as martyrs by those who share their philosophy and know who they are.

I think they should publish photos and details of anyone on the terror watch list and urge the public to be vigilant.

I'm sure people will say 'that will lead to vigilante actions' NoM - to which I'd shrug my shoulders and say 'tough' - if they are worried then they have the option to leave and live somewhere safer - unlike the people murdered by their Islamic Brethren.

My inclination would be to gain as much information as possible from the bodies then a quick cremation.....and when the families, who claim to have known nothing of the behaviour of their son or brother, come looking or report them missing.....well, they are adults......

I know it wouldn't help......deep down I do......but I hate to see their faces and the faces of their relatives......just vanishing wouldn't be too bad a thing......and perhaps...just perhaps it would bring some of those supporting them behind the scenes out of the woodwork.....x

Sometimes the security services need to post names & photos when they are trying to trace the movements of terrorists prior to any attack.

Generally I agree that the leas publicity these monsters are afforded after a terrorist attack the better. If you deprive them of the oxygen of publicity it de-glamourises them in the eyes of younger and more impressionable people who might be being radicalised. I think it would help tremendously if they were called what they are 'murderers' instead of alluring names like 'Jihadist' or 'terrorist', and it would also help if non caucasian /Muslims etcwere not automatically assumed to be terrorists whilst white terrorists are usually reported as being ' lone wolfs', 'mentally unstable' or even sometimes simply 'loners'. We need a very level and low playing field of complete social disgust across the board with regards to ANYONE who commits acts of terror, and there is quite a drive on social media GNESS which also agree with your thoughts.

Thank you, Kval......I only do AB.....no FB or Twitter so I don't know about the feelings of others apart from here and people I know...who are going to agree with me of course.... ;-)

So...am I right in thinking that all of these recent attacks have been carried out by people of interest? I think that's right....

Danny gave a reason for publishing their faces and names......but if they are of interest they should be being watched to a degree.....difficult I guess.....but not impossible....

Gness, apparently the list of suspected terrorists runs into thousands. The security services just do not have the manpower to keep surveillance on all of them

In Spain, in any Policìa Local or Guardia Civil building there are mugshots of ETA members.

Why can't we have advanced knowledge of anyone with links to terror cells who are in or might enter our country imminently?

Then surely if someone whose photo and information was widely publicised walked into a crowded building or boarded a tube train carrying a rucksack, people would have the option to flee and not sit around blissfully unaware, waiting to be blown to bits.

Hi, NoM....I suppose there are so many of them now.....and a slight change in appearance can make a huge difference.....beards, glasses, hair length....

The more I think about it the more I want them to be disposed of quickly, secretly with no name and no ceremony.....
I'm sure the Spooks could arrange it......x

I was led to believe this morning that Corbyn was against the shoot to kill policy......this I now know to be completely untrue.....but...

Let's not call it shoot to kill......let's call it....shoot to protect Britian...shoot to save the lives of innocent folk......??...Or anything you can think of...but not shoot to kill anymore......because the reason for shooting these murderers isn't primarily to kill them......x
