..Swanee river?
Please ignore my answer. Obviously not a British river
I think the Swannee river is in South Georgia USA and the clue is for a British River?

Missquiz . . . Do you have the number of letters and/or any of them?
Mersey?
Question Author
Sorry I don't know the number of letters.
This one is rather obscure and I am not that confident that it is the answer but "Children Children" written by Paul McCartney features the line "I know a tyne waterfall."

Good answer flonska. I've got Tyne for another answer. I keep thinking Mersey but is that purely the Liverpool connection rather than a song!
Yes it is. "Ferry Cross the Mersey" was recorded by Gerry & The Pacemakers and I think was written by the group leader Gerry Marsden. This one possibly appears to be just the name of a river within one of the song lyrics rather than accompanied by the word "River" itself. I shall ponder some more . . .

Thank you flonska. It's been suggested that it could be Wye as they recorded a song 'Ask me why.' Not sure tho.
Sorry to divert Miss. Good quiz question... "What is the only river in Britain to flow due North"?
There's a couple in Ireland I think, Bann is one.
-- answer removed --
Ah, sorry I was way off that.
So as not to pinch Miss's thread..... River Conwy.
Following my previous suggestion @ 17:38 on 07/07/17 this next reference may also be very tenuous . . .

According to some sources the Beatles' song "Get Back" began as a satirical and critical look at attitudes towards immigrants in Britain and it was loosely based on British politician Enoch Powell's notorious 'Rivers of Blood' speech.
-- answer removed --
If River Wye from "Ask Me Why" is considered plausible, then how about River Wear from the lyrics of several songs - eg. Come Together has the lyric "He wear no shoeshine...".

You can search Beatles song lyrics using this website: http://www.beatlesagain.com/btlyrics.html

I only discovered Wear, but there may be other more obscure rivers to be found.

Thanks for all suggestions. I can't get this one at all. I've got just under a week left.
Can a word of the title sound like a river?
Kansas? Kansas City, Beatles For Sale.
