It Seems That Not Everything In The Garden Is Lovely, This Year.

My border plants and baskets are not very good this year, they should at this time of the year be in full bloom, but mine look as if it is the back end of them.

The petunias noted for their persistent flowering are especially bad, could it be that it is a bad year for these otherwise lovely plants?

I've noticed a few comments on here, in various topics, about garden plants suffering due to the rain.
My climbing rose isn't as good as it was this time last year.
Another ab'er has lost a lot of her roses due to the number of showers/heavy downpours.

My petunias has suffered too, and the sweet peas. They usually do quite well. All points to the weather. The tubs have suffered too.

I know that certain plants have their good years and bad years, I just thought it might be that.

Incredible when I decided to buy a smart hose at the beginning of summer, who would have guessed it, it's been used only twice this summer.

Remember Inpatients (busy lizzies) have they recovered from the disease that took them off the market for a few years?

my clematis are a disaster, brown and thin and looking very sorry for themselves x

It seems a strange year, this year. Some plants are behaving as if its Autumn already, 2-3 weeks early, if not more.
The first thing that I noticed was the blackberries, many of which ripened in the first week in July.
All the rain at the moment is making the grass grow like crazy!

petunias don't like rain..nor begonias along with roses these are heading for the bin very soon

I agree, I have a garden full of lush green folige but no flowers. My oleanders are not flowering neither is my hydrangea. If a flower dies decide to show its face, it's blown away by the wind and rain.

I have spoken to some seed merchants who are selling busy lizzies, but they say the problem is not completely sorted. They resist the disease for longer now, but they can't promise they will resist it for the whole season.
Try nemesia. I have had some splendid tubfuls of nemesia this year. Not to mention geraniums.
