The saucy ones were good fun. Trouble is most were browsed at the shop, but you sent your relatives a photo one of a nice local view.
One might have thought that 5 or 6 million a year was still a decent profit making industry.
For generations, sending a postcard home has been a quintessential part of the great British seaside holiday.
But now that great tradition is coming to an end

It never started as far as I am concerned.
Yes...the end of an era....the saucy postcard.
My favourite was of a woman thigh deep in the sea, facing the sands where her boyfriend/husband was standing hesitating whether to join her.
The caption:

" Come on, the further you get in, the nicer it feels"

Morning Sqad !

My favourite was the very fat man, in a bathing costume, with a small boy behind him, and he says "Has anyone seen my little Willy ! "
LOL^^
We sell some postcards in our Oxfam shop and most of the cards that we get have not been sent.

The seaside type cards are usually funny/amusing but they would probably be censored today - which is sad.
Wolfie....I was looking at some of these type of postcards only the other day, and censored they were not.

I've seen them for sale in UK seaside resorts this year - if they were truly banned the DM wouldn't be able to print pictures of them.

They were banned from sale 50 years ago, they are now going up for sale.

Please try and keep up.
Yes dirty old men will have to look elsewhere for their titilation!
I doubt anyone ever used them for titillation.
They were humourous.
