Morning Flonska, and any other solvers. Lovely part of the country we're in this week, and pretty straightforward to place it with his mentioning of The Blue Boy. I notice, though, that Brian Smith, who gives the answers to these puzzles on an easily-findable website, has gone way off track by naming the second village as Mendham. Nowhere near!

Afternoon G.G.

Yes, that area is very picturesque. Over the years, I have played in a number of charity events at a nearby golf club - so am familiar with much of the landscape - a bit like the second painter.

I can only think that one of the clues was misread or the map oriented askew to arrive that far away in Mendham?

Interesting snippet about the puzzler having to beetle back to the jalopy. You don't think he drives one, do you?

Feels like it is time to be set a festive themed puzzle quite soon now - a treasure hunt, perhaps?
Can I have the link again please, GG. I'd like to have a go. Thank you.
Afternoon, Tilly,

Try this:-

Hope you manage to solve it!

Thank you, Flonska. I'll give it a go.
If you need hints, I and I am sure GG will be please to assist.
One thing I find helps is to copy and paste the puzzle text into a word document. That way bits of the text can be cut and put into the search engine - saves typing out and eliminates errors. For this week, for example, you can start with "Portraitist 1727. The Blue Boy." That should get you off to a good start.

Ha, yes, and the painter's not Stubbs, which I'd thought with the equine reference, but didn't look at the date!
I think that Brian Smith has gone with where the third artist was born rather than where he later lived
I'm wandering around Suffolk!
:-)
Is 'Cottage at East Bergholt' relevant?
That's quite possible . . . Toorak.
Forget that question^^^^ I missed the date.
Tilly . . . have you got the name of the town?
So far I have Sudbury and Edwardstone, Flonska. Am I on the right track?
...and East Bergholt.
So...Colchester?
You already have the town (not Colchester) - you now need the second village
Tilly, have a look for "artist born 1878 equine work"
Flonska - am I correct in thinking that Colchester is not the town?
Is it the famous mill painting?
