Cryptic Clue Answer - Local Quiz

I have just one question to answer in this quiz.I do have an answer that has the necessary letters but as I aren't sure if it fully answers the question so I would appreciate someone else's take on it to see if I am on the right track.
The question is A handy size of lighting.The answer is two words 0f 8 and 4 letters and the only vowel allowed to be in the answer is the letter A. Thank you.

Thank you to both of you.You have both said the answer I have so it looks as though that is the one .My problem with it is that I can't really

I think it is a play on the word "standard". Anything that is a standard size etc is handy to get spare parts etc etc

I have to agree with JJ109. Plus, without dwelling on it for hours on end, it's the only sort of light i can come up witth that contains 'a' as the only vowel:-/

I was looking for a hand-held lamp but couldn't come up with anything with 8 letters.
