Mature Garden Palms And Plants

Hi, When we moved into our home, the previous owners had spent lots having the garden landscaped and put in a lot of beautiful plants. Some of these have grown so much the garden is too crowded and we now want to re-landscape it to make it more child friendly/ open .
Some of our palm trees are very established - does anyone know if I could sell these rather than just have them removed/ cut up I would rather re-use plants where possible and knowing the cost of some of these plants, any money made could fund some of the new works.

When we moved into our house, the previous owner had put in a fantastic garden some years ago and worked hard to maintain it.

There were some Yucca trees up to 10m high. They look a bit like palms, and grow well in the UK climate.

Palms are something a bit different.

I would suggest that you find out the exact species/variety before even thinking about selling.

If you want a specialist tree re-planting team to come in, they wall want to know exactly the type of plant they are dealing with, both from a value perspective and to to know how best to handle the particular plant.

SO, my suggestion would be to identify the plant - you can take photgraphs of the whole tree and the leaves in close-up and the trunk. If you take them to a good garden centre, they should be able to identify the plant - if not, ry the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).

Once you know what you are dealing with, try finding a specialist plant nursery and offering them the same information, to get an idea of the value/costs of removal.

Be aware, however, that the root ball on a mature plant can be quite big, and it will mean diggers and heavy lifting equipment to remove them....

Palms should be easy , contact any local garden designers in your area they might be interested in big specimen plants at a fair price.

Established palms are notoriously difficult to transplant. Best of luck with that one.

Looking from a health and safety angle, re "child friendly" I would remove any spiky foliage material such as yucca's that is below child height.
